Now this isn’t good. Seventy-five percent of paint samples and 73 percent of consumer paint brands tested from 12 countries representing nearly half the global population exceeded current US standard of 600 parts per million (ppm) for lead in paint. This is really bad for the rest of the world, and let’s be grateful that the US Consumer Product Safety Commission has a lead limit in the U.S. Lead is neurotoxic and can lower IQs. Most of U.S. products are now produced in other parts of the world. Better news for the U.S.: The US Consumer Product Safety Commission is going to lower the permissible lead limit from 600 ppm to 90 ppm.
