Spray your lawn to get your potato chip and bagel fix?

It is no surprise that lawn herbicides are really bad for our hormones and are massive synthetic endocrine disruptors (besides being linked to Parkinson’s Disease, leukemia, and more). Now new research highlights another way that they are bad for us.

A new study by the Journal of Medical Chemistry reports that being exposed to phenoxy herbicides like 2,4-D makes your body think it is on a high carbohydrate diet! The pancreas’s reaction to the herbicide makes your body think it just had a very high carbohydrate meal. As a result it keeps producing more insulin. This lowers your blood sugar so that you eat more to balance the lowering blood sugar. The vicious cycle ends up with a high risk of Type 2 Diabetes.
