Birch grove with bright leafs and grassI researched deeply into herbalist lore to find a natural tick repellent, and eventually found rose geranium. I’ve used this formula on my dogs’ collars, and dabbed it on my myself and my family before gardening or going for walks where there are tall grasses or brush. I have found it to be very effective in both cases, and I am so grateful because I don’t want to use toxic pesticides on my dogs or my family, and at the same time want us all to be outdoors without getting Lyme Disease. Just don’t put more than a drop or two on a dog’s collar, as they are very sensitive to smell and find anything stronger than a few drops unpleasant.

Insect Repellent Oil
10 to 25 drops rose geranium essential oil
2 tablespoons vegetable oil
1 tablespoon aloe vera gel (optional)

Combine the ingredients in a glass jar; stir to blend. Dab a few drops on your skin around your wrists and ankles, or clothing.
Makes about 2 tablespoons.

Preparation Time: A few minutes
Shelf Life: 6 months
Storage: Glass jar with a screw top
