How to Make A Detox Foot Bath

As I write, my feet are soaking in a tub of warm water that has been mixed with 1 cup of bentonite clay and ground herbs. The herbs send their healing aromatherapy into the air, while the clay pulls impurities out of the skin.

This is a natural detox treatment: simple, effective, and powerfully relaxing.

It is the natural detox alternative to expensive ionic foot baths that you might pay $60 for at a salon. This foot bath is–like all of the treatments in my eBook Homemade Detox Baths—an easy, natural way to relax and rejuvenate as you cleanse, in the serenity of your own home.

Native peoples have rubbed their bodies in mud to detox forever. This foot bath is pretty much the same idea. Clay naturally exudes negative ions, which draw toxins from your body – you can literally see the toxins seeping from your body into the water!! I’ve researched these natural methods for years, and have found ways to make them accessible for home use. They tend to cost pennies, and they are based on natural ingredients and processes that have proven effective for centuries. I feel such a lightness after I give myself a foot bath — the detox feeling is palpable.

Basic Clay Bath
No matter what your health, start with a weak clay bath and build up gradually over time. Fill the water of the tub to a comfortable temperature (around 102F).

½ to 2 cups calcium bentonite (green) clay

Blend the clay with water in a few gallons of water and then pour it into the tub, mixing it into the larger body of water.

For people with chronic illnesses stay in the tub for just 10 minutes or so. Healthier people can stay in up to 20 minutes.

Caution: If you feel tired, exhausted, or other symptoms, get out of the tub.
